O sono depois do almoço é normal, mas a sensação de cansaço constante durante o trabalho tornou-se presença quase que constante para muitas pessoas. Chamada de fatiga de trabalho, o cansaço não é apenas físico, mas também mental. Falta de motivação, baixa concentração e dificuldade de organização são alguns dos efeitos que com o tempo podem levar à ansiedade, à depressão e ao burnout.

Segundo a Fast Company existem algumas razões que contribuem com essa sensação. Uma delas são aslguns aspectos do trabalho moderno. Com smartphones sempre conectados, as pessoas acabam trabalhando mais horas e, por isso, têm dificuldade de se desconectar do trabalho. Para aqueles que trabalham remotamente, ainda é mais difícil tirar um dia de folga e cumprir as horas adequadas de trabalho.

Abaixo, veja algumas das razões listadas pela Fast Company que contribuem para o cansaço no trabalho (e dicas de como contornar essa sensação).

1. Falta de sono

A rotina de trabalho atual normalmente pode fazer com que os trabalhadores diminuam as suas horas de sono – nos Estados Unidos, mais de 43% disseram que regularmente se sentem privados de sono. A solução pode estar em sonecas de 15 a 20 minutos ao longo do dia, que costumam melhorar a atenção e a produtividade. Sonecas mais longas ajudam a tomar decisões melhores.

Programar intervalos durante o trabalho também é benéfico. De acordo com o pesquisador do sono, Nathaniel Kleitman, o corpo necessita, a cada 90 a 120 minutos, um intervalo nas suas atividades. Cada um precisa encontrar o seu limite e organizar pequenos intervalos durante o trabalho.

2. Falta de desconexão

Para muitos, trabalhar é sinônimo de olhar o dia inteiro para uma tela. Apesar de ser impossível mudar isso para muitas funções, a mudança pode vir fora das horas de trabalho. Olhar para um celular ou assistir um filme no computador se tornou método comum para “relaxar” depois de um dia cansativo. No entanto, esses dispositivos emitem luz azul que reduz a qualidade de sono e aumenta os níveis de depressão, ansiedade e estresse. As novas tecnologias também tornaram mais difícil não checar o e-mail e responder mensagens fora do horário de trabalho, o que aumenta as chances de sentir fatiga e burnout.

Além de reduzir o uso desses aparelhos, é importante ter um hobbie. Atividades recreativas podem ajudar você a ser uma pessoa mais criativa, focada e produtiva no trabalho.

3. Ir contra a “curva de produtividade”

Trabalhar contra o chamado de ritmo circadiano, processo corporal que regula o ciclo entre estar acordado e dormir, é uma armadilha. Naturalmente, o corpo tem altas e baixas de energia durante o dia, o que pode ajudar a organizar o período de trabalho para se tornar mais efetivo. Quando estiver mais alerta, realize as tarefas mais decisivas. Por outro lado, quando estiver mais cansado, faça atividades menos importantes, como responder a e-mails e realizar ligações.

4. Não organizar sua motivação

Falta de motivação pode impactar os níveis de energia durante o trabalho. A solução é organizar o local de trabalho – e o cérebro – para se auto motivar. O primeiro passo é reduzir materiais e objetos em excesso na mesa. Muitos itens podem causar distração e tendem a desmotivar.

Outro caminho é a regra de cinco minutos. Quando sentir que está procrastinando, passe cinco minutos focado em uma atividade. Depois desse período é mais provável que você continue com o projeto. Por último, crie uma rotina ou ritual. Por exemplo, se todo o dia passar cinco minutos limpando a mesa ou respondendo a e-mails antes de começar a trabalhar, o seu cérebro aprende a esperar esse tipo de atividade antes de começar algo mais complexo.
